In a Highsnobiety interview on March 11, Carti tackled questions from fans about his sexuality. He expressed his disinterest in conforming to conventional expectations. “I’m not making efforts for people to question, ‘What’s up with Carti? Is he gay, or just messing around?’ I simply don’t care. I’m true to myself. I regret not being this way earlier. If you track my career, there are hints of my true self. Regardless of my all-black attire, there’s always been an element of this. ‘Yeah, that guy is different’—that’s always been me, since I started in this industry,” he stated.
The “Whole Lotta Red” artist also commented on the “vampire” rumors associated with his bold fashion choices and love for leather. “I’m a complete rock star. I’m unconcerned about opinions, and I aim to show the world my full potential in the limited time I have. If you choose to be the ‘bad guy,’ you can’t take a day off. Vampires, after all, live eternally. They’re always stylish, never experiencing a dull moment. A vampire is always on point, no exceptions.”
