Being named one of CURVE Magazine's 2008 seven ENTERTAINERS OF THE YEAR was just the icing on the cake for Lori Michaels, whose career really took off in 2006, following her official “Coming Out” party at the House of Blues' Club Worship in Atlantic City . It was a House of Blues first, and a turning point for Michaels in her evolution to in-demand solo artist and nationwide headliner with her head-turning Me & The Girls shows.

In a time when coming out has evolved from something equated with fear to something much more about freedom, Michaels has freed her artistic soul to deliver “Living My Life Out Loud.” – her debut album with Reform Records (available on Itunes, Rhapsody, Amazon, Verizon vcast and in select stores nationwide). It is a testament to, above all else, her love of the song – whether that means writing, arranging and performing the vocals (lead and backgrounds), showcasing her talents on the piano/keys, or overseeing production with the best in the business to leave listeners breathless.

Howard Tonkin is currently recording an album of electronic pop, with the working title of Personal Apocalypse. Tonkin has created a unique sound, blending catchy pop hooks with futuristic loop based electronic music, that defies categorization. Tonkin's powerful male vocals are reminiscent of the new wave/new romantic British invasion of the 1980's. Tonkin's song writing is refreshing departure from the typical themes of love and loss, exploring themes of social expectation and self realization.

With songs that are sophisticated and smooth, though simultaneously raw and honest, his listeners are taken on a musical journey of self exploration, both introspectively and externally.   Tonkin’s performances in numerous clubs in New York have earned him rave reviews and comparisons to Frank Sinatra and George Michael.

Howard Tonkin's hot new single, "Chasing the Dragon" and others are available on his myspace page.

..................Richard Cortez
Known mostly for his infamous first single, craving something beautiful, (or, “the ‘smoking pot and watching cartoons’ song”), which appeared on Cortez’s first full-length studio album, it was clear from the get-go that Richard Cortez was not your average recording artist. The record, appropriately entitled “craving something beautiful,” started appearing for sale online and in small gay retail shops in the summer of ’05, and has become somewhat of a gay folk cult classic.

Lyrically raw and uncensored, the album showcases the voice of a heartbroken but determined Cortez striving to find meaning in the crowded streets of New York City as he leaves the only love he’s ever know. From its catchy title track to the intricate string arrangements, written by Cortez himself, craving something beautiful was a major success and helped put both Richard Cortez and Wollenberg Records on the map.

In June of ’06, in a room filled with only his closest friends, Cortez recorded his “live @ the red room.” This personal and musically profound follow up to his debut record showcases new and improved renditions of pre-Wollenberg compositions. With songs off “craving something beautiful” and raw first takes of songs off “he loves me not,” and material spanning his entire career as a writer and musical arrangements that will leave you breathless, his high-energy album is the perfect introduction to what Richard Cortez really has to offer as a live performer. Listen online by going to his myspace page and come hear it in person at PrideFest!

....................Brian Ricci
Brian Ricci, comes from NYC. He started writing songs at the age of 10, even composing one for his grade school graduation!

Later, he got his education from New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, in vocal performance, and soon after was contracted with Boston Lyric Opera Company and sang roles and chorus with them for 6 seasons. Boston was pivotal in his music education, and the opportunities that presented themselves to him were numerous (soloist for Trinity Church, under the direction of Brian Jones, for 2 years), and numerous solo oratorio roles and performances.

An unexpected move to Fort Lauderdale put him in contact with Josh Noland (of Country Music Hall of Fame notoriety). After Josh heard Brian's voice and writing, he immediately made plans to produce his first cd, "Now You Know,” recorded at Masterlink studios in Nashville.

Brian has upcoming gigs in NYC and Florida, and welcomes the opportunity to write, record, and sing for all that find solace in his music.

Visit the link below and get a wonderful taste of his music and style aptly described by Brian in this quote: “My style is a fusion of pop, folk and country. The ballads stay with you, and the upbeat songs keep you in the car listening (ESPECIALLY “ON THE RADIO”)…you’re gonna dig it.” Check it out online then hear it live at PrideFest on Sunday, March 22nd!
