Statement of Purpose

 Pride South Florida, Inc. supports a variety of organizations that work to promote charitable activities, educational programs, and cultural arts in the South Florida community. Our funding seeks to encourage unity by word and action to all individuals, while working toward one common goal – to install pride in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community.

 Funding Priorities

The money generated from PRIDEFEST serves as the primary income producer for various Grant programs and public benefit opportunities throughout the year. These Grant programs include the following.

  • Pride South Florida, Inc. concentrates funding in the following areas


  • Materials and training programs that provide accurate and sensitive information about HIV or LGBT communities
  • Programs that support and/or assist LGBT people into the community environment.

Cultural Arts

  • Fine arts, performing arts, and cultural programs that creatively express and promote visibility, leadership, history, and education about and for the LGBT communities.
  • Cultural arts programs that build bridges between communities.

Social & Civic

  • Coalition and alliance building efforts that promote leadership training, visibility, and LGBT awareness in the community.

Guidelines, Evaluation, & Publicity

Funding Guidelines

To be considered for a Pride South Florida, Inc. grant, an applicant must: 

  • Be a non-profit organization, or provide documentation that the organization is sponsored under a fiscal agent umbrella that has a non-profit status;
  • Serve the community of South Florida. (Broward County)
  • Have a history of effort and commitment to reach out and serve the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities.
  • If program granted is an event, PSF requires to be named as a sponsor of the event equally to the total of the grant.
  • Have provided volunteers to enable operations of Pridefest.

 Pride South Florida, Inc. Grants Will Not fund:

  • Individuals;
  • Salaries
  • Fundraising events;
  • Political lobbying, political candidates or political campaigning.
  • Business or profit-making ventures.
  • Reimbursement requests for existing debts;
  • Organizations not in good standing with the community.
  • Travel expenses.
  • Capital improvements on buildings.
  • Organizations not operating as non-profit.

 Evaluation Report

Please note: all organizations receiving funding from Pride South Florida, Inc. grants will be required to submit a completion memorandum describing how the funds were spent and how the program succeeded and benefited the LGBT community. Completion memorandum should be no longer than 3 pages and is due April 1st, 2014.  It must also include the following:

  • Documentation of expenses (copies of receipts, statements, etc.)
  • Provide copies of PR, releases, etc. of your event(s).

Any organization not submitting the memorandum on the due date will be denied a Grant for the following year.


Pride South Florida, Inc. will require grant recipients to publicize awards through articles in their organization’s newsletters, press releases, flyers and other announcements. If the award is a program or event with sponsorship, the organization must list PSF as a sponsor at a level equal to the award amount.  Please contact the PrideLine for ideas and information for publicity. Award recipients grant Pride South Florida, Inc. permission to use organization names and information in publicity releases.

Application Instructions


  • Copy of non-profit credentials for your organization.
  • If using an umbrella fiscal agent, provide its non-profit credentials.
  • If using an umbrella fiscal agent, provide a statement of permission from the fiscal agent on the fiscal agent’s letterhead.
  • If not using a non-profit status, provide other proof that this is not a profit-making venture.
  • If requesting funding for a specific project, provide project budgeted.
  • 3 copies and 1 original of cover sheet and proposal. (4 total)
  • Optional attachments include: a paragraph describing key staff, and/or involvement with the project; press releases, brochures and other materials that serve to describe the organization and/or its project.

 Application Instructions:

 Provide a copy of the cover sheet and a separate proposal that answers each of the following questions.

Complete cover sheet.

Describe your organization, its mission, history, and long-term goals.

  • Describe the population that your organization or project serves.
  • What is the need being addressed by your organization and/or this project?
  • What are your alternate funding sources?
  • How do you plan to continue funding this project after the pride grant-funding period is over?
  • How will you evaluate your project relating to the mission statement of PSF, Inc?
  • No applications will be accepted by fax or e-mail.
  • Mail application to P.O. Box 23686 Fort LauderdaleFL33307.   Certified/Return Receipt Recommended.  All Applications must be postmarked no later than May 10th, 2013.
  • Pride South Florida will require a representative from each organization submitting a grant application to be present on  May 17th, 2014 for a 15 minute interview with the Board of  Directors. All interviews will be scheduled in the same order that grant applications are received. Failure to attend the interview will disqualify the application.
  • Grants will be distributed at Pride South Florida’s annual grant event on TBA @ Sidelines Sports Bar. Plan on being at the event until the conclusion.  Organizations not available will need to make an appointment to receive their grant anytime after that day.
