2008 Grant Recipients - Funding Guidelines - Apply For a Grant

       Pride South Florida, Inc. supports a variety of organizations that work to promote charitable activities, educational programs, and cultural arts in the South Florida community. Our funding seeks to encourage unity by word and action to all individuals, while working toward one common goal – to install pride in the lesbian, gay, transgender and bisexual community. 2008 Grant Recipients

Paladin Athletic Organization  -  $2,500

Purpose: To provide, educational, social and civic services to the GLBT community through athletic and informational endeavors.

 

Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus -   $2,500

Purpose: Sponsorship for season concerts.

 

Names Project South Florida - $2,500.

Purpose: To Continue providing community displays and workshops of the AIDS Memorial Quilt for the purpose of HIV/AIDS education, awareness, and remembrance in our community.

 

Flamingo Freedom Band - $2,500

Purpose: To support the South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble Fall Concert entitled “Song and Dance” to take place at the Broward Performing Arts Center.

 

Arts United - $2,500

Purpose: Funding for ArtExplosion 2009

 

Tuesday’s Angels - $2,500

Purpose: To provide emergency assistance in the form of eyeglasses to financially needy people with HIV/AIDS.

 

Stonewall Library - $2,500

Purpose:To support the “Out of the Shadows” exhibition at the Broward County main Library.

 

The Povorello Center - $2,500

Purpose:To provide accurate and sensitive nutritional information and boxes of food to HIV+ GLBT persons in Broward County.

 

Transgender Equality Rights Initiatives (TERI)  - $2,500

Purpose: For educational, social support and outreach.

 

SunServe - $2,500

Purpose: To develop, and implement programs and services designed by and for the Lesbian, Bisexual, and transgender community through SunServe’s “Women 4 Women” program.

 

The Pet Project - $2,500

Purpose: To allow people who are terminally ill or permanently disabled to keep and care for their companion animals when the financial hardships inevitably arrive after the loss of ones ability to work.

 

American Veteran’s for Equal Rights (AVER)  - $2,500

Purpose: To provide funding for the 2009 AVER national Convention.

 

 Nova Southeastern University Gay and Lesbian Medical Association - $2,500

Purpose: To address the social stigmatization and subsequent health barriers to the LGBT population in the health setting.

 

KP Productions  - $2,500

Purpose: To continue the outreach program providing live musical entertainment to the GLBT community and seniors in our community.

 

Southeastern Regional Gay Men’s Health Summit  - $2,430

Purpose: To provide registration scholarships to 18 individuals from Broward and Miami-Dade counties to the health summit.

Evaluation Report

Please note: all organizations receiving funding from Pride South Florida, Inc. grants will be required to submit a completion memorandum describing how the funds were spent and how the program succeeded and benefited the GLBT community. Completion memorandum should be no longer than 3 pages and is due February 28, 2009   It must also include the following:

Publicity

Pride South Florida, Inc. will require grant recipients to publicize awards through articles in their organization’s newsletters, press releases, flyers and other announcements. If the award is a program or event with sponsorship, the organization must list PSF as a sponsor at a level equal to the award amount.  Please contact the PrideLine for ideas and information for publicity.
